14 Oct VCK Weekly 10/14/13-10/20/13
Good afternoon Vintage Families!
It is so beautiful outside with the change in season. The trees are flooding the landscape with a variety of autumn colors and the breeze brings with it a fresh crispness that summertime did not offer. Suddenly, every store that you enter is now filled with delicious fall aromas and each recipe in the kitchen magically includes apples or pumpkins! I love each new season for what it offers, but I must say, fall is my favorite!
Of course, it is hard to think of fall without remembering that it is harvest time for farmers. As I was out and about today, the change in season reminded me of Jesus telling his disciples in Matthew 9:37-38, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
This passage of scripture hit me similar to how the cool crisp air does this time of year. It gave me a renewed excitement and passion for reaching the lost or “harvesting the field” as Jesus said. The kids have been so enthusiastic about bringing their friends with them to Vintage City Kids to hear about Jesus. It has been incredible to see many of these kids not only come and accept him as their savior, but then return week after week to learn more and more!
I believe that each new season brings with it a much needed time of renewal and refreshment for what is about to come. I encourage you to have a family meal together this week and talk about what it means to be workers in God’s field, harvesting his crop. Who has God placed in your life that needs to hear the good news?
Each week at Vintage City Kids, we offer the children an opportunity to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This week at VCK, we are on the second week of our Exodus study. We will continue learning about how God rescued his people by providing a way for them through the Red Sea. God always had a plan to rescue his people, including the most amazing rescue plan the world has ever known, a plan to rescue the whole world through his son, Jesus.
