23 Jul New Arrival Time & Other News for VCK
Vintage City Kids Team,
The summer is flying by! It’s hard to believe that we have been in our building on Sharp Point Drive for 17 weeks already! I want to thank you for the flexibility and grace that you have shown Brittany and myself as we have tried our best to navigate through another season of transition. Thank you for serving the kids AND US 🙂 so faithfully. I feel like we are finding our new groove and settling into the schedule of having two Sunday morning services and a Sunday night service for the student ministries.
I have had the opportunity lately to speak with other children’s ministry pastors and leaders in the area as well as across the United States and I must say that I couldn’t be more proud of Vintage City Kids. Those that I spoke with shared their frustrations with a lack of enthusiasm among their team. They shared that their teams are discouraged and feel burned out by doing what sometimes can be a thankless job.
Summertime can often feel that way in the church world as it is a busy time for so many families and numbers usually are lower. I want to say that I hope our team doesn’t feel burned out and if any of you do, please approach Brittany or myself. It has always been our goal to see our team of volunteers not only give, but to receive something by serving too. I want to encourage us to seek our endurance and encouragement from God just as Romans 15:5 says,
5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5
This passage of scripture has officially become my new anthem prayer for VCK and our team during this season. I pray that we would not just be a team that shows up to put in our time, but we would have unity among ourselves as we follow Jesus and serve the kids at Vintage. I pray that our hearts and mouths would be united with one goal in mind, that what we do as a VCK Team would glorify our Father!
Renovations to VCK
It has been very exciting to see the progress being made in the new building since we moved in. Thank you for giving faithfully to the FF&E so that we can outfit the new gathering space with the necessary renovations. A huge shout out to one of our own, Arica Martinez, for helping make our nursery and pre-k rooms look SO AWESOME!
We are excited to continue making improvements to the space in the coming weeks including new audio and video equipment!
New Arrival Time
I’d like to adjust the arrival time for the 9am team members. Currently, I have you arriving at 8:15am. You can now begin arriving at 8:30am. Hopefully, this will make it easier for our families who serve and bring their kids with them early! You will see the new arrival time reflected in Planning Center Online when you receive your scheduling request emails.
Be Ready for Check In
Something we have noticed is that during our designated check in time (15 minutes before and after 9 & 11am) some of our team members are stepping out to talk or grab coffee in the entrance way. It is embarrassing (especially when we have new families) to check children into an empty room without a team member present. I realize that check in is slow during the summer, but please make sure that during our check in times there is always at least one team member ready to receive kids.
In addition to that, please have one team member in the room working with the kids and another team member stationed at the door to greet families. We are having a problem with families coming into the VCK hallway and trying to check themselves into a system that they don’t understand. It is our desire that you would learn not only the kids’ names and faces, but their parents too.
New Team Member: Joel
We have a new addition to our team! I’d like to welcome Joel Turner to the VCK Team. He served his first Sunday last week and he did AWESOME! We are very thankful to have him on our team!
Expanding Our Team
As we near the start of another school year, we can expect to see our numbers grow and stay more consistent. To best serve the kids and to avoid burnout for our current team, we are looking to add 3-5 more awesome people to VCK. If you know someone who has a heart to serve and would fit in with our current team well, please let me know! I would love to reach out to them!
That is all! Thanks for reading this LONG email! I love you and am so thankful for you! Remember, none of this is possible without you! Be blessed… See you Sunday!
