11 Jan VCK Weekly 1/6/13-1/12/14
Hi Vintage Families,
This week at Vintage City Kids, we are in Matthew 4, Mark 1 and Luke 4-6. After Jesus had been baptized he went straight into the desert to spend time alone with his Father. He needed to get ready for the rescue plan that He and God were planning. It was the greatest rescue the world has ever known – a plan to rescue the world from all of its sins, sadness and pain. It was during that time in the desert that Satan came to tempt Jesus with terrible lies, but Jesus did not give into the temptation. He knew that God had given Him a plan to rescue the world, but before Jesus could do that, he need to find some helpers. This week, we will learn about how Jesus called some poor fishermen to come be his helpers. He would ask them to put down their fishing nets and come be fishers of men!
The elementary kids will be learning the story by dressing up and acting in a drama skit this week. The nursery and preschool classes will learn the story too by having a snack time that consists of pretzels for fishing rods, licorice for string and gold fish. They will also learn about the many places we can be “fishers of men” by playing a game with fishing poles and magnetic fish that have hidden treasures!
