VCK Weekly 10/21/13-10/27/13

Hello Vintage,

Last week we learned that God provides a way for his people today, just like how he provided a rescue plan for the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and a safe passage through the Red Sea. This week the Israelites are still on their journey to the promised land. You would think after God had done so many miracles to rescue them from slavery they would be more thankful to God, but instead they began to complain to Moses saying,

“It would have been better if the Lord had just killed us in the land of Egypt. At least there we had plenty to eat. We had all the food we needed. But now you have brought us out here into this desert to make us all die from hunger.”

Obviously, God did not bring them this far just to have them starve in the desert. He had another amazing plan to rescue them by providing food and water for them in the desert.

To help us tell the story this week, we have two very special guest speakers coming to Vintage City Kids, “The Church Ladies.” They love to teach the stories of the Bible and give glory to their precious Lord! Your kids will not want to miss their special program called “Church Chat.”

The Church Ladies

Here are the details of what we will be learning…

  • Bible Point God helps us make good decisions! (Two Thumbs Up!)
  • Bible Story Moses and the Ten Commandments
  • Scripture Exodus 16-17, 19-40
  • Memory Verse Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me.”

This week we have a really cool craft planned for the kids. They will make “Manna Jars” for their families to place various tangible items that remind them of how God has provided for them just like how God provided manna in the desert. If you display the jar someplace visible in your home it can be a fun way to share stories with your guests about how God has provided for your family!

Brittany and I have a manna jar in our home and when people ask what a manna jar is we tell them to pick an item and we will tell them the story that goes along with it. For example, if they picked the airline ticket from our jar, I would tell them the story of how God provided a miraculous free flight home for us from Alaska during a time of need. It is a really fun thing for people of all ages and I am sure you and your kids will have a great time coming up with items to fill your manna jar to represent God’s provision for you.
